Our old racehorse has just died

We watched the race at 2.30 and it looked pretty obvious that he had broken a leg, but we've just had confirmation.

Dad sold him a while ago to our trainer, he is, was, 10 and I've known him since he was a 2 yr old. Such a lovely natured, easy to do horse. I always hoped he would come out of training sound enough to go and be a riding horse, he had so much to give.

Yep, poor boy broke a hind. It was on the flat, just reminds you of how precious they are.

I know racehorses are thought of as machines, but to us horse lovers it's still hard

How tragic, so sorry for you and that you had to see it happen. Take comfort from the fact that accidents are dealt with very quickly on the racecourse, and I'm sure he would not have suffered for long. Best wishes.
