Been very busy putting my new camera through its paces, learning all the time, great fun, loving it, took pictures of Bonnita last week, she is by OOseven (Rubinstein) x Paddox (Olympic Ferro) x Edking Hill, mom is in foal to Don Riccos for next year. She stands at 15hhs as a yearling now and a beautiful mover.

No probs BB Matt but really interested to hear why.

The reason I pefer the filly to her dam is because her limbs are finer I am not a big bone fan that' just my preference, her canter is also much better than her dams but sadly don'have pics to share and her steps are more light footed, Whisty is a powerfull mover but slightly heavier, she also lacks uphill roundness in her canter and trot and prefer the roundness of the fillies quaters, mom is a tad square behind also nonetjeless we will be hanging onto her and experiment with different stallions over the years to come.

Bananaman You gotta love those ears, have to be the biggest I've seen yet...... LOL

Thanks Memo yes the hock action in both is there for sure

just wished it pushed mom UP a tad more but action is more forwards and ground covering with her..... filly is better.

I like both, I think they are both stunning, the filly is better marked but I really like the mare, she is a real mover isn't she!!

Memo no it isn't his mom, the one in sig is Chelanno, he is out of Edwina who is an Edking Hill x Dottorre (Damenstolz mare) by Umenno. Edwina has produced three stunning colts for us to date and is in foal to him again for next year. Her colts at snatched up within days but this years reserved in utero.

You can see her along with last years homozygous colt that we have retained, Chelanno's full brother. I really do need to get some good pics of her on her own when moving as received exceptionally high scores for movement at her keuring with 85 for trot! and 80 for walk, can't remember her canter but think it was 75 or 80

this is the boy in my signature.. he moves too... but great jumping lines too.

I think the reason I prefer the mum is because I personally prefer the stronger movement of her to the light footed movement of the foal, I also prefer the set of her neck. Was mum ever ridden? I bet with that hind leg you could train her more uphill in the canter!

Mat_B ok it will be interesting to see how she finishes, and quite right under saddle that could easily be developed but no mom has never been ridden, she is four now.

The Dark chocolate palomino fully, second in sig, is out of a Bavarian mare by Kataract, owned by Straloch in his day, and the filly by McJonnas, the mane and tail are platinum blonde at the moment, and her coat is currently shedding out, she was pale palomino but is now going a dark chocolate colour, not sure how she will end up, some colour gurus say that the dark will fade again and go smooty, or smutty and some say she will ramin the dark colour. Mom is in foal for next year and would love to see a few more foals out of liver chestnut mares in the future.

You can see her close up here but the lighting is very bad hence all the noise in the picture.

Watching her change has been fascinating........

merci..

"Charisma" as named by her new owners will be heading South of the border at weaning, Chelanno heads for the Isle of White, and the coloured mare and her filly aren't going anywhere... yet!

what camera have you got?

[/ QUOTE ]

sorry Springfall missed your question.. its my new pride and joy.... the Nikon D200 but its the lense on this camera that makes it, 70 -300 with the vibration reduction built in.. have a wide andgle lense too but have not yet used it.

Thankfully a freind set it all up for me onto automatic so all I have to play with is the shutter speed. ISO and autofocus switxhed on, its truly a huge leap forwards for me, instant image when you press shoot, no charging time can get blurry in low light but not the normal action pics. Five frames per second but honestly what you shoot is what you get, no delay as was in the past with digital. Love it!

Thanks Rollestone... play away its the only way to get results for sure .. during the last three weeks whilst Ree was here I took 3000 pics and now only have an album of 130........... I did photography at Exeter college as part of my Art course and have always been passionate about it, so that combined with my love for horses has brought the two together. Ree helps me a lot with the modern elements of digital and is teaching me all the time. We probably posted at the same time!

It's the Nikon 200, i let Ree choose it for me in the US and she brought it over with her during her photoshoot. her album is in working progress I'm just not as fussy about getting it all right as its not my profession just a hobby.....

D200 - VERY nice! I am starting on a D50 which is fine for my needs at the moment - but I'm interested in the lens you're using - Most of mine I use a 55-200 for but I have been looking at the 70-300 lens.... I may treat myself when we finally have our arena built - then I can really put it to good use!!

In the meantime it's fun learning!

Thans SD we love her too, want to use him again sometime, but will wait to see how Don Riccos works with Whisty for next year first.

Three, we keep saying we have no more room at the inn as well but last Wednesday surprise surprise we managed to squeeze in yet one more, this time a young Samber mare, and am pleasantly surprised, she is so refined and elegant, was kind of expecting something with the classic Samber frame, broad chest, rounded joints but she is quite the opposite and very pretty!
She has an exquisite black and white colt foal at foot called Co-Pilot by the Trakehner stallion K3 and I bred her to Quaterback in Holland and brought her over now that she has had her 45 day scan. But really we don't have any more room, honest...

Rollestone, the 70mm-300DX is well worth the investment, its light, small and very sharp. Have just had our arean done too so understand its a lot going out, now I want the latest in high definition video cameras, sigh.................. they have come down massively in price from what I've been reading.

BTW I used to ride at the stables that are quite close to you I think, is it Pensylvania?

That palomino filly is so eye catching, with the white face and socks too. Really interesting how she is sheding out. My chestnut filly out of liver mare seems to be sheding out really dark, so i am hoping hse is going liver too.

Your mare herd is really impressive, new mare sounds another cracker
