Our paddock is a quagmire :-(

We have a wee loch just outside the field gate - I had a wonderful time leading 2 ponies through it in the dark this evening - my feet got soaked and then they splashed the water all over me.

In the 4 years at my current yard I have never see it so wet.

Mine have been out on 8 acres (daytime only) for less than a week and it's already squelchy. The grass is knee high and where it's gotten trampled it's created a bit of a mat so some of the field is ok. The gateway however is gross!!

My paddocks are underwater and i spent over an hour taking straw and shavings out so they could have a dry spot to stand on and lie down in their night patch with their mahusive haynets. It was mud before but now its simply just gross. Luckily i dug out the ditch round the edge of the field a bit more last week and a mini narrow ditch through their rested patch so despite it being underwater, i was smiling with pride as the water was draining out into the stream from it. Anymore rain and the stream will burst its banks and ill have lost the entire 2 acres.

This is proving to be the wettest winter ever and its not even december! Stupid rain.
