The main Policing goes on from Appleby station itself but if you pass the info on to the "intelligence" dept, they will put the info out to everyone. Sounds daft but spell out the makes as whoever takes the details will probably not be horsey and will spell things as they sound.

Good luck and best of wishes, apart from my horses being harmed or stolen, this has got to be my biggest nightmare.

Weezy I know how you feel as it happened to me a few years ago. We LIVE here and they still took the lot. They did a few yards in the area all on the same night. If you can claim off your house insurance. I did and got new for old. My liveries unfrotunately claimed off their horse insurance and got what the insurers thought the tack was worth at the time it was nicked....peanuts.
The only thing that stopped me screaming was that they didn't take my horses.
Will lend you my hubby to beat up, you'll feel soooo much better!

I too feel your fury. Two large wheelbarrows (the big expensive ones) were used to steal all our tack. I had for the first time ever allowed my insurance to lapse by two weeks so it wasn't covered.

Last week a lorry and two trailers were taken too.

I know just how you feel as we were cleaned out a month ago. Our barrows were used to transport the stuff from room to the B******S vehicle.
We are slowly accumalating new stuff, but if anyone has any small rugs ect they want to sell pm me please.

What a horrible thing to happen! I dont know of any sales- but I was told the other day that because there are a lot of car boot sales on/table top equestian sales that summer is prime selling time. They steal from one county and car boot a few counties away. Sorry to hear this though hun. x

Poor you Weezy, some stuff is sentimental and irreplacable. The thing is your dead right it will be on its way to Applby fair, but Applby isnt like going to a tack sale at Melton Horse sales where all the stuff is laid out for viewing. At Applby it will be dont on the quite out of backs of vans, trucks, horse boxes. None of it will be on full view even if you went up there to try and look for some of it.
Am I right in thinking there is a horse fair at Stow-on-the-Wold at some time, cant remember when it is.
Melton horse sales is today.

Sorry to hear about your stuff being nicked - everyones worst nightmare

. Now I realise it is a little late but as others have said it was Melton sales today - have just spoken to a friend who was there and it was very quiet but she said there was lots of nice tack for sale a lot of which was going unsold due to lack of people - might be worth a call??

I think they take some stuff on the day - they don't produce a proper catalogue of tack - its just laid out in the sheds. My friend took up a load of kids riding stuff to put in the sale this morning - and certainly some of the stuff is kept for the next sale if it isn't sold this month.

Oh Weezy I'm so sorry to hear about your tack going. Our tack room was cleared out in exactly the same way last September, including my extremely rare Balance saddle. Nothing recovered so far, I hope that you have more luck.

Contact horsewatch with the details and pictures.

In many cases the thieves will return some time later to steal the new tack.

Get any new tack marked with your Postcode so that if it is stolen it can be identified. (A lot of tack is recovered but it is impossible to identify the owner unless it is marked).

Peter, I have tried to contact Horsewatch, but the links to the SE and Gloucestershire on the Horsewatch website are all duff, which is a shame!

Am very aware that they will be back, they will find an empty tack room, no one will leave their tack or valuables in there ever again.
