Brilliant - as you say the main thing is that he gave you such a good feeling round the XC, he certainly makes it look easy on the vids. And I agree with you 100% re stopping being a much better approach than leaping anyway and possibly coming a cropper (particularly as it was kind of a joint decision) - that's the safest way to do it. If you're not going to be able to make a good job of it, don't jump it! There's always another day.
I love that pic over the white oxer, he's making a super jump over it
But (and I'm going to put my bossy hat on here) if leaving 15 mins late only gave you 7 mins to warm up then you're not allowing enough time! What if you hit some bad traffic?
But luckily it didn't seem to affect your test as that was a fab score!
All in all a great start to the season - good for you
PS: I'm pretty sure that fence to step down to skinny brush was in the PN last year at Twes (2). I remember thinking it was a very stiff combination for PN and, even if the fences might have been a bit bigger, it makes me feel better that it was in the novice. Was it after the water and up a little track and you can't really see it until you're right up to it?

Im not quite sure how the late arrival happened - I am very OCD about being on time, but it was mum's partner's bday today so think they just didnt want to get out of bed,
yes that jump was in the PN last year (and the unaff PN) and I remember thinking it was a very stiff question then!! Rode well though
Well done with the dressage. I thought that wasn't the most friendly fence where you had a stop you had to hit it just right. Looks fab the rest of the time though.
Well done, fab dressage, sounds like your day was like mine, but we got stuck in traffic which led to latness, I get stressed and nervous if I don't have enough time!
Excellent report and well done!
Love the field shots, it looks like his neck has vanished in the shake!
Would definately try a pelham, I had a simimlar problem and was advised to try a rubber pelham, but the curb freaked him out, so I put a rubber guard on it and now he's fine in it, definately better than anything else I've jumped him in!
I so like your horse, really enthusiastic, and being an sj-er was relieved to see him stop rather than doing something REALLY scary!
Bit of a learning experience,methinks?
Next time I'm over maybe I could help you a bit with the jumps 'you can knock down?'
sj_mummy definately!! I think he will talk to a belgian person rather than a smelly english one
lol
thanks TD 0 I take it u didnt run as he was lame the other day?
And thanks Mollyy - I am worried about using one but it was magic on a very gobby horse a few years back, he is normally so polite in his mouth though I just dread being crap with my hands and hurting him
