First proper report so hope it's not too long. Dressage OK, we'd already seen Lucinda Fredericks score of 25.2

so wasn't very optimistic but got 37.1 and Jack was pleased. Onto sj - managed to walk the course (a first!) and was the new PNP so wasn't sure what to expect. It was inbetween PN and Novice at about 1.05 I think maybe a couple bigger, warmed up really nicely and went to go in at correct time but organisers had decided to ignore times and were taking numbers instead however they didn't tell anyone so there were a few cross people including us. We then had to wait 20 minutes to jump

and I think Duke thought he had done the sjing and it was xc time

so had a bit of an exciting round but only two down and one of those was a bigger jump so Jack really pleased

Down to XC start, behaved impeccably in box (have had some vertical shinnanigans in the past

) and off, Jack then did an interesting loop to the first jump (I asked him later what he was doing and he said he saw WFP do it earlier!) saw him over the 2nd then ran up the hill to watch the rest (nearly had heart attack), jumped everything nicely, got to the log pile(?) with flower pots and took off on an early stride and Jack left behind a bit but fine over house and did a humungous jump over the ditch and stream (Duke knows there is a huge troll lives in there

). Through the water and then the commentator says Fernhill Duke going nicely through the water, has a slight tack problem but Jack is coping fine

but then says he's coming to the last and they are home and clear

I met them at the finish and the martingale had come away from his stud girth (comfort zone)

so I'll be taping that next time! So a good day

Im so jealous of all these reports! Need to get me a nice eventer!!
We have the same problem with trolls living in ditches, should be thankful to pony really, im sure hes saved me from being troll tea many times!!

I saw Lucindas horse WOW but it did nearly buck her off later

The SJ collecting ring was not too good today, we got caught up in the mess too.

If by the loop you mean going up the bank to the first fence I did too, it gave Saf longer to see the first fence

Well done. Re the martingale, we use an overgirth and pass it through the martingale loop as I never trust the velcro,

Have always relied on the velcro until now, however I didn't check it

so probably my fault.

Yes Jack's loop was to the bank (however as I was standing there watching I was slightly alarmed as he came towards me

Well done. Shame about the SJ muddle - who knows how he'd have done if he'd been able to go when he was ready!
Based on your experience, do you think PNP is a good stepping stone between PN and N?
