Not sure where I should post this really but thought here was as good a place as any!! Today was our first ever show (well mine but Cropi did do some years ago)
I chucked hubby out of bed at 6 am and we had a fairly calm time getting the car and trailer loaded. Its when we got in the car I started gagging
hubby is great though and calmed me down and I'd stopped shaking slightly by the time we got down the yard.
I got Cropi in and she had not rolled and her plaits were still in from yesterday so that was a result. She loaded like a dream and off we went. Di has some bits to do so he had to drop us off early so he could get them done and be back for my class at 10. We were the first ones there!!! I unloaded Crop, she was over the moon at the grass and I just perched my bum on the ramp and we chilled for 30 mins or so before the next person turned up LOL She was really calm and relaxed so we got tacked up and took advantage of the empty warm up arena and even managed to skip into the test arena for a little familiarization
Si, my Mum and my instructor then turned up. I got told off for letting Cropi eat the grass and my instructor sorted out my tie and reminded me to breath!!!!
We went into the arena again and my instructor went through a few things with us and tried to ensure we were chilled. I was ok until the person before me didn't turn up and we were ushered in early.
We were ok but the sun had gone in and Crop decided that the oak tree was now very scary and kept spooking past it
I made her go past a few times and then the bell went.
Amazingly I remembered it all, we were both tense and Crop did have a spook past the tree and threw in a stride of canter just to make sure she got by quickly
but it was ok, certainly room for a lot of improvement but not bad for our first time.
To be honest i am chuffed to bits as I'm sure you can see and we came 6th
there were over 30 in the class so a really good result
We are going back next month, I was asked to another one next week at a different venue but we will have to see how Cropi's eye is.
