We have had yet another horse PTS this morning.

Making that 6 in total.

I know its the sad fact of horses but it hasn't seemed to have stopped this year.

I feed all the horses on our yard in the mornings, so I become quite attached to them all. The lady who owned this chap, although crazy as a bad of frogs, she has a heart of gold and would have done anything for Arrow. My heart really goes out to her. RIP Arrow.

Let this be the last for a LONG time.

Was xrayed a few weeks ago, was slightly lame. Diagnosed with arthritis in coffin joint. Had a cortisone injection, went chronic after that. Was taken in and treated for an infected joint. Came sound last week, being walked out in hand. Went lame again on Monday. Apparently when the xrays were taken, they discovered a bone spur on the long pastern, and by all accounts this had caused the recent lameness. An op was offered but only a 20% chance of recovery. Not insured as he was 20, so she made the descision this morning.
Couldn't have been easy.

Very sad - but he's in a better place now. Far better that than them living in pain.
Sorry to hear about your yard. We had one PTS a little while back and the sadness hung in the air for days afterwards. It really affects people.
Hope your luck starts to improve soon!

That's horrible but at least the owner had the sense to make a sensible decison instead of putting the poor horse through surgery for an 80% chance of the same end result - euthanasia. Big hugs!
