She has mondays off usually, lunged or hacked out tuesday, schooled wednesday and thursday and then if she is out eventing on saturday she'll have sunday off, if she's out eventing on sunday she'll jump or dressage on saturday
so in answer to your question she's ridden 5ish times a week and schooled 3/4times a week
2 or 3 times a week, other days she is lunged, hacked and jumped once a week.
My schooling sessions are only 20 - 30 minutes as well, I don't see the point in endless drilling. If she needs a bit more work I'll canter her as well after schooling.
4-5 times a week. one of those will include jumpwork another day polework. gets into indoor or on walker every day as well...field a few days aswell. other days just has a leg stretch
ATM HE IS doing 2 jumps sessions, one or 2 dressage sessions once hacking and one on the gallops.... but this does change every week depends the last two weeks he has done a lot of road work and jumping..... to prepare him for eventing...
mine dont really hack out as the roads by my horse arnt very nice.
So monday is usually day off after comepeting
tuesday schooled for 20/25 mins
Wednesday lesson all afternoon so all rode for about 45 mins
Thursday ride 1/2 for 35 mins
Friday ride 1/2 for 35 mins
Sat/ Sun - Jumping at home or competing or just schooling
When i ride they go on the walker for 20mins plus before, so i get on trot , they i stop and they go back on the walker for 20mins
And they go on the walker everyday for 1hour while mucking out is being done
Also, if the weather is ok i will turn them out 2/3 times a week for a few hours
At the moment not at all as we don't have a school and the fields are too wet so we just hack 3-4 times a week, in the summer she's ridden 5-6 times a week and schooled 2-3 times a week. She's been placed in almost every dressage class we've done this winter, she seems to go better if she isn't schooled too much.
Dressage horse: schooled at least four times a week, one day off and two days hacking. Schooling usually lasts around 45 mins, finishing off with around 10 mins walking outside of the school.
Now its got lighter at night more often so
Monday - Usually day off
Tuesday - Hack out if light enough or Lunge w/pessoa/Long rein in field
Wednesday - Another day off (usually have to go back to work in evening
Thursday - Hack out if light enough or Lunge w/pessoa/Long rein in field
Friday - Hack out if light enough or Lunge w/pessoa/Long rein in field.
Saturday - Big hack out during day.
Sunday - School (have to hack along busy main road)
Pretty limited at the mo as no school on site. Would normally school 3-4 times a week and hack the rest.
When I had Dutch we used to approximately do the following...we also competed regularly, sometimes once a week, sometimes less or more. I think it is fine to school a lot, for a dressage horse that is normal, but it is vital to do other things too!
4 days schooling including more intense and lighter sessions.
2 hacks (of at least an hours duration- always in a snaffle)
1 day off
1 lunge session (15 mins)
He used to go out in the field after being ridden each morning for at least five hours on good grass where he would gallop about a bit!
