Do you mend your rugs or send them to be professionally done ??

I only ask as I have just spent half an hour sewing one of the 3 rugs !! Don't get me wrong, will not win prizes and might not hold, but just wondered what everyone else does. !!

Thanks

I sew myself. P came with a super Mark Todd stable rug (I think it is called a combi stable rug) but there were huge tears at the top of the straps and on the back, so I sewed them - seem to be holding so far

I do all of these things.....depending on how badly the rug is damaged. If not bad, then I will mend it, if bad but recoverable then it gets sent away, if damaged beyond repair then it get thrown out (I take all useful pieces off it though) and buy another rug.

Yes I do try repair all of my rugs myself.
I did buy him a new rug last time just so that he has a spare one but woudln't buy one unless his current is totaly trashed.
I don't send mine away to be done professionaly.

I fix minor things, like buckles, but I leave the major rips to the pro's. If its really bad rip I just replace the rug (well thats the plan, usually I fix it and keep them both

). We used to have a really good woman who comes round the stables in a van and fixes rugs for really cheap, very handy!

I have yet had to fix a rug lol

I seem to have good horses

But think missy has well and truely broken this chain with 2 ripped rugs already .

Il probably try and mend it myself depending on the damage

My mother has taught me well - all bar one rug (which ended up in about 20 pieces!) have been repaired by either mum or I and the one really knacked one has been washed and had all fixings and usuable material removed and sorted for future repairs.

If its a small hole I patch it up myself but if its a big hole or in a buckle or sursingle area I send it away. Send away for cleaning as well, tried it once in a laundrette and then had them professionally cleaned that's when I decided I would never ever ever ever waste my time cleaning rugs myself!!!!

Minor rips I do myself.

You can also buy waterproof stick on patches that are designed to repair tents which work really well.
