Out of the mouth of bored husbands..

I used to have a know it all OH, with comments like

" riding isn't exercise, the horse does all the work"
" why do you have to wear such tight trousers?" ( breeches!)
" why do you keep having lessons, can't you ride yet?"

So I very meanly booked a lunge lesson for him. I did make sure he had correct footwear and a proper hat. I did not tell him what happens to men who attempt to ride in boxers and loose jeans...as he stupidly said it would be easy as he was a born athlete, I also asked that part of the lesson he had no stirrups.

Lets just say that after said lesson he a, walked like John Wayne, b, sounded like a very young boy soprano,c, had completely hairless legs on the inside...

And never ever said it easy again!

Lucie07 you are evil!!
My oh keeps asking me when I'm going to get a 'proper' horse.
Maybe I should surprise him one day and turn up with said 'proper' horse (as well of current shaggy pony of course)

Mine is another who has genuinely developed a really good eye and makes flipping good comments and asks questions about bits, tack etc but then will say something like when watching Jean Francious Pignon (sorry about the spelling) look his horses follow him around, why do you need a head collar to get yours in!

I know but it did work! To be fair, once that particular OH had realised it is hard work, he shut up and actually took lessons to be good enough to hack out safely on a friends long suffering ID mare.

And I bought him some coloured breeches and sports briefs. For which he was very grateful !

My olds had no electricity yesterday so I said they could come round for come of tea etc. When they arrived, I was like "you'll have to put up with Olympia on the TV" don't think Mum minded as she use to ride and it reminded her of her youth watching the likes of the Edgars, David Broome and the Dinzaro brothers on the telly, think Dad was a tad bored!:p
