Can anyone reccomend me a surface for a new outdoor arena? It would be mainly used for riding (probably only about 2 horses per day), loose schooling/jumping, lungeing and hopefully turn-out in bad weather. Its very exposed so needs to not blow away! Is there any surface you would reccomend (or reccomend I don't get would also be unseful!). Thanks x

Don't know what your budget is but sand and rubber generally work very well. You can get the long strips of rubber which may be better suited for you. Also if it is very blowy it is worth getting extra high kickboards. You can also get a mesh netting that attaches to your arena fencing to help.

In my experience I would steer well away from wood chip surfaces. I have found them very slippy. Another problem is that they break down and need regular top ups/replacing.
