outdoor rug help please

does anyone know of a make of outdoor, waterproof rug that does not fasten with crossovers? I need an outdoor that fastens with the old way of back leg straps and a belly surcingle (either loose or sewn on)
thanks if anyone can think if one.

thanks, unfortunately that one has the same problem as the crossover ones, ie a strap around the middle of the belly. I must have one with a surcingle where the girth goes. The horse has one single sarcoid at the precise point of crossovers, however tight or loose they are they rub the sarcoid. This will happen if the sarcoid is left or treated with Liverpool cream still u/e with the vet. (recovery time whilst skin heals)

This is what I did. Different problem (pony kept getting a leg stuck when getting up) but I just cut the circingles off his rugs and replaced with a normal one.

I'd just chop off or unstitch the x surcingles and sew one one where you want it (or get a rug washer person to do it)

Or if funds are not tight, the newer rambos have surcingles fixed on by velcro so you could potentially change the angle of them to go straight across, then you could put them back when healed.

Thanks. I have done this with a summer fly sheet (before I realised you could buy one without cross overs )
I was proposing to do it with a winter rug. I cut slits in the sides of the summer one to keep the surcingle in place. I have got the new winter rug in front of me (a horseware) and it just seems sacrilege to cut holes in a beautiful new rug if there is any alternative.
I thought about an elastic roller on the top but I am scared that without the slots to keep it in place it could run back and end up round the sheath area. Energetic young gelding.

I started on the summer rug with a belly flap. Such a brilliant idea I thought, it rubbed the flipping sarcoid.

Hmm! my rambo wug has 3 belly straps, 2 cross over and one across the middle. I could try this. Thank you, very helpful suggestion I can quickly try.

Or shorten the unused strap(s), fold it up inside and pop a couple of stitches in to hold it there.
I did have leg straps and fillet string tho.

yes it will have leg straps, they are easy enough to buy. I doubt it would be safe without. The rambo's also have a tail loop which should provide some stability as well.

Can you attach the front surcingle strap to the front fixing point on the other side? It might need a bit of tape or a rubber band on it to stop the twist in the strap from undoing the catch.

And either do the same to the other one, or cut it off.

What about getting some narrow webbing as per leg straps, and sewing a short length onto the outside above the lower edge of the rug to keep the surcingle in place - like the strap at the bottom edge of a numnah that keeps the girth in place? That way you don't need need to cut into the rug and you can remove the straps when the sarcoid has gone?

I've just tried it on my TB and it works fine, both straps, no rubber bands or tape needed.

I have just tried it. The back strap is a little bit far back but probably OK. I worry that the front strap could "drift" back as the rug pulls back. (front strap is on the tightest setting when crossed over so I shall have to cut and resew to be sure)

Rig up a mini martingale type strap between front chest fixing, between front legs to belly strap, Bob's your auntie's uncle

My share horse has Weatherbeeta rugs (definitely stable and quite possibly TO) that have straps that just go from one side to another (front to front, back to back) , they have little keepers to run the surcingle straps through before fastening them up, presumably for extra support.
