Bless her, I think I had low expectations of the big girl. I didn't have her down as a "thinking" dog.
One of the toys she sometimes gets her supper from is a Memory Trainer. She has to press a buzzer and then collect her food from the dispenser. I have gradually increased the distance between buzzer and dispenser- they are now in adjacent rooms. She obviously thought "sod this for a game of soldiers" and now presses the buzzer 2 or 3 times to release more food before making a trip to the dispenser.
Big girl 1, Owner 0.
When the dog door is locked she will rattle the keys with her nose to let me know she needs to go out.
My last dog would go and nudge his harness and look at me expectantly if I was getting ready to go out "don't forget me, Mrs"
What has your dog taught himself that has surprised you?
