Are you really mad...or just really brave?! I couldn't last 2 mins bareback on either of my (high withered / razor backed) TBs!

Cycling shorts under your jods?

Ha!!!

I do normally ride him bareback, but for an 'acceptable' amount of time [ie, a normal hour or so ride hacking].

Unfortunately, the pick-up is slightly [well, ok...majorly] broke and currently is stuck on 3 wheels jacked up for the time present!

We're about 3 miles from the nearest shop, and the horses themselves, are split between the hills varying 2 miles either direction from the house. So....having no car currently....is well, proving a nightmare! So, normally when such occasions occur....I would take Hairy cob. [Who, being a nice round cob....was very comfy bareback!]. But, as we no longer have Hairy with us....my TB lad is the one to fill his hooves for such jobs now. So, I walked to the first mile to his field this morning...of course, I also have no tack now either, as ridden ponies are in the field and tack is in the barn, normally bought by car to field.......so, headcollar and leadrope, hop on him in his field.....and ride him to the barn/yard where the stables horses are to do them.
So, after mucking out/feeding/etc all of them like normal...I then ride TB back down to the house, leave him tied outside to the tree in the garden, go to grab a drink.....and we're out of milk and sugar. And again....No car! So off I hop back on, and hack to the shop 3 miles away [main road, with double lanes/loads of articulated lorries etc].....come back with said shopping bag [after tying him to the hedge outside said shop :o ] and back to the house.....TB gets tied to his tree again and has some water and feed...

Anyway.....after a quick drink finally.....I then have to go check the baby herd, so off we go again.....Come back, and back up the barn again to finish evening feeds. Have to then get a mare in from the original top hill field....so go back to there. Then sort the last things at the barn out.....then finally head back to the original hill field back with Bustie [pitch black by now] and finally finish for the day!

Aaaaaand. Repeat the same tomorrow. :o

I swear I'm the only person who does this stuff lol.

I had to do this in the summer, not for 7 hours mind, but a couple at least! I gave in and surcingled a prolite pad on, heaven!
