Bitch has come into season 4 months after last one. Vet thinks she might have ovarian cysts. At least I thought she had come into season, but vets this morning have found she has an infected anal gland and the blood had possibly been coming from her bum! Im wondering if there are two problems here as she was dropping small drips of blood like a season, and bhaving restlessly like in her last season, but 2 weeks on her vulva isnt swollen and no blood this morning . Are there any other signs that she might have a cyst/tumour? I have no experience of bitchs seasons previous to this dog.

We've had dogs with anal gland issues and they can be quite restless/frantic with this when it bothers them
Has she been scooting her bottom on the floor at all, or licking her back end a lot (even if you thought she was licking herself due to a season).
I've fortunately not had to deal with an infected gland, but used to have to take one in to the vets for regular empties.

We have four entire bitches in our house and generally they tend to go over / longer between seasons rather than 'standard' 6 months.
I've not personally had one come in sooner than the 6 months. They can have silent season but i've not experienced one of these yet.
Sorry i can't help from the cyst/tumour side of things.

What makes your vet think she’s got cysts? Is she obviously in pain? The anal glands will make her agitated, especially if infected. I only have experience of human ovarian cysts and they’re very painful when they rupture.

If your vet suspects this, I’m surprised they haven’t suggested having her in to spay.

PaS. Vet thinks it is, but has taken a swab which I will find out the result for next week when she goes back.
Im still unsure, but next doors unneutered dog has been driving the neighbour mad with pacing up and down the fence whining over the past couple of weeks.
