Ovary removal

Two mares,one operated on and died following surgery.The other was sent off to play polo,not worth the cost,as a broodmare.
 
One of my previous horses I kept in touch with had one. It was done at Liphook. She found the operation fine but foundered in recovery, I presume through infection as she wasn't presenting as a lami risk. Complete rotation through the sole, PTS.

TBH, in the same situation I would still do the operation. She too had a cancerous ovary, there wasn't much option.

Not all doom and gloom though, I have read of others who recovered well.
