for those that are interested!

We changed the Robert Jones splint on my cat this evening and he was adorable at first..........he led there purring as I undid the old one, until we got near the bottom and i finally got to the dressing to find that the dressing was held on with thick sticky plaster that I couldn't peel off (the stuff that really hurts when you pull it off) by this time the cat was hissing, yowling, biting and scratching!!!!!! I'm glad I wasn;t the one holding him! Anyways I couldn;t get the dressing off so I just did a new robert jones on the top and hoped for the best, because he isn't allowed to bend the leg and at any mo we were in danger of losing him, its not quite at the right angle but its dressed

Now all I need is any good ideas for getting alot of stickiy plaster off quickly off a wiggling, hissing biting moggy??? I am planning ahead for next week!

Also how do vets expect you to do these things yourselves!?? I mean they did their dressing and splint under GA yet they expect you to get sticky plaster off a cat whilst it wide awake and not very happy!

Seriously I can only think of wrapping him up, otherwise what about those calmers you can get for cats & dogs, noticed that at the vets earlier this week.
 
I think you can get some chain link gloves, if they can protect against sharks (well small ones) they should help you with your little cat. Problem is not sure where you would get them from failing that, borrow some armour from Warwick castle. I still think the easiest solution is a tap on the head!

You could try and freeze it off, I've got some thermatex you could wrap the cat in and just freeze the plaster leg

It might work like chewing gum... or you might have to iron over it with brown paper like you do with wax

Maybe I am mixing that up with something else. Either way I don't think your cat would be too happy!

Is it front or back leg? Get cat holder to put cat on a table, hold scruff of neck, oh if you have one of the dog plastic cone thingys put it on the cat (can't bite you then) and put other hand just behind shoulder blades to hold cat flat to the table. Curved scissors to start to cut away the edge of the sticky plaster stuff. Deep breath and pull? sorry other than that I really don't know what to suggest. or can you hold a warm wet towel around the plaster to soften the sticky stuff up so it comes off more easily? Either way Good luck!

Yes but I didn't manage to change the dressing as it was stuck on with sticky plaster but Maggy chain mesh stuff should help!

Oooh Hollywood, do you really think so?? Wow how cool that would be. Mind you I may not fit in coming on here & I had the shakes & really bad withdrawal systems from missing everyone & just as I start to come out the other end, the bl##dy system comes to life again!!
