Hi

my gelding has two over active sweat glands about 4 inches down from wither - one is 2 inches wide and the other 4 inches. He has not had any trauma to the area and its not exactly where a rug lies either. Has anyone else experience of these and are they anything to be concerned about?

Thanks

A friend's horse has one about 3 inches across, on the side of her neck. The patch sweats to the point that the hair is bleached.

This mare has major psychological/emotional issues and this patch sweats much, much more when the horse is stressed. I don't believe that the stress is the primary cause, but it definitely triggers the sweating in her.

I also have a my own random sweat spot, at the inner end of my left eyebrow! It was caused by nerve damage, so I would not be surprised if nerve damage was also the cause of the isolated patches of excessive sweating on the horses.
