Am currently typing one-handed so please excuse grammar/spelling
I got thrown off my loan horse on Monday evening while doing canter work in the school. He wasn't happy that there were ywo geldings in the next feild and had thrown a few bucks/bunny hops earlier in the session but had been doing very good trot/corners work for about half an hour. I decided to do a length of canter but misjudged the corner and he had to turn quite sharp. Second attempt he just threw all his toys out the pram. No breaks, started bucking and after a few I came off over his right shoulder and got a clean-through break to my humerus.
I know anyone can come off but am just questioning my ability to bring on an ex-racer now. On hacks he is lovely, not bothered by traffic but has no brakes in canter. He's fine in trot/walk. I am having a professional start schooling him 2 days a week and it will be several wks before I can do anything but think even then I will avoid canter work til he and I are both better balanced.
His owner is seriously wondering if I want to send him back. I don't, but I am prepared to listen if its best for him, I just don't know what I should do?
