maybe a bit expensive but a stunning stunning wee boy!!

I'd say it was more than a bit..... More like £2000 over priced & that's being generous!

Most foals are fetching IRO £500/£1000 max if they have good breeding.

It's an American Saddlebred X Appaloosa. Nothing remarkable so the only reason I can think it's priced at what it is is because of the 'pretty' colour. Which could soon fade.

Yes, very cute & pretty but not worth what they are asking IMO.

He's a lovely looking little chap!

My friend has just bought a stunning evenly marked skewbald yearling filly for £2500, she's by access travel and out of a ID mare.

She's standing about 14.3hh/15hh ATM! My friend said she's worth every penny.

Surely if he was only born last month, hes too early to even think about leaving his mum! Or am i missing something?

[/ QUOTE ]

Often people advertise foals early - he wont leave his mum until he is about 6months old (I am guessing) but they will sell, probably as "deposit taken, remaining balance on weaning"

What foals with 'good breeding' are you looking at?

Not in our neck of the woods. You're looking at anywhere from around £3 or £4k upwards.

don't like it at all.

it looks "cut n shut"...

in fact it looks exactly like those stuffed horses you win at a Fair!!!

an awful lot of money for something that in all probability will be "white" all over in five yrs.....

Not in Cornwall either,
I think you can get well bred welshies at the sales cheap.
But the bigger horses are definately selling for hell of a lot more

I just looked at the ad again, I have never heard of pinta-loosa! Sounds like a labra-doodle!
And he's only going to make 15hh-15.1hh!

I thought it said 16hh

i think the term "pinto.loosa" just describes it's colouring rather than the actual breed....

odd little thing..but serious money if they get it!!!

Ah come on JM7 - he's cute - you know he is!

sorry, AM.......

that is NOT cute....

Pinto - paint horse
loosa - appaloosa.

He might change colour a bit but he's likely to get more spots not less. There aren't many saddlebreds over here and they love flashy colours/markings so would expect there to be quite a demand.
15.1 is the average height for most of the American breeds.
A similarly marked appy was 2nd in a high class open western pleasure class at a big WES show last weekend.
Quarter horse foals are easily making £3k at the moment.
Altho this chap is not my cup of tea (fed up of bathing light coloured horses!) looks like he could be a great prospect for the right person...
