My chunky cob keeps pulling his front shoe off in the field but I can't seem to find any overreach boots that fit. I have tried a pair of XL rubber boots with Velcro but they were about 1-2inches from fastening. He is only 14.2hh but built like an absolute tank! I am considering the westropp petal over reach boots but not sure if the petals are as deep as the bell boots and don't want to spend £40 on two sets of boots to get the boots big enough only to find they don't protect his shoes. Anyone else out there with a chunky that could advise?? I am also going to try changing his farrier as it is becoming a weekly occurrence but want the boots in case it carries on as I am running out of money to keep paying the farrier :(

I'm in the same situation my boys 15,2hh only 4 years old and just starting work. Every now n ten you hear his hooves click together an he has pulled a few shoes off. Yet extra full boots are still too small!! Love to hear if anyone comes up with any alternative makes

I always used petal boots on my chunky cob, but I'm not sure that would be what you are looking for. However, I used to have a chunky cob cross TB who pulled front shoes off every 1-2 weeks. Drove me mad. I got him treated by a McTimoney chiropractor and as a side effect he didn't pull off another front shoe for five years.
