My boy has splayed feet which makes it hard to find over reach boots that will fit. I first got the large Dalmar boots which were good length wise but were too big around his pasterns and spun round. I swapped them out for a medium and they were a better fit around his pasterns, but the anti turn part wasn’t sat in the right place and it didn’t cover his heels fully. Just wondering if anyone else has found a brand that covers this issue? I’m also not a fan of the rubber ones as they rub.

Do you mean the horse has flat feet and is shod with a wide web and heel extension to give him support ? so you therefore need to protect the heel extension from being trodden on with a hind, by using an overreach boot ?

Or do you mean the horse has a lot of flare ?

Sound a bit like my ID mare's feet.

In my experience, the neoprene wrap type boots fit, and the one's with the button inside to stop them spinning don't fit.

Mare has PE wrap boots at the moment which are good :)

We actually find there are 2 sorts of rubber ones; a harder sort which are often the cheap ones, they do rub. and a second type which are made of a very soft flexible rubber that does not rub. I shall confess to bulk buying all the Kadence ones when Countrywide closed down so not bought any for months but I think Shires are similar softness.

If you are looking for some turnout OR boots I highly recommend the Shires Arma Rubber ones. They are like the old fashioned thick rubber. My horse was in heart bars for a period of time and these were fantastic, really hard-wearing and did not rub at all! Tend to go up a size for turnout.

Sorry should have said earlier. I’m looking for x country boots. He has very thin sensitive skin, he has struck his front feet before and pulled a shoe so I’m not sure rubber would stand up to that. I bought the Dalmar boots purely for the reinforced strike protection part but hurray me I spent £50 on a pair of boots that don’t fit and have only worn once.
