saw someone riding with overreach boots on her horses hind feet, whats the purpose of doing this? i thought they were on really for the fronts??

probs a really stupid question lol!!

I sometimes do if my horse is kicking himself with his back feet. He hates the sausage boot but doesnt care about over reach boots behind!

ahhh i see

i was well baffled

Seems to work for me - he has spavin and arthiritus in his hocks so has funny action behind sometimes

My horse also brushes really low and damages her hooves/coronet band. Hind overreach boots prevent her injuring herself and hopefully reduce the chances of pulling her back shoes off too.

Yeah, i use them to stop him pulling hind shoes off, also he sometimes rests one hind hoof on top of his other one and gets to the point where he actually wears a hole in his hoof from doing it, so the overreach boots stop that!

Do this on the ginger nut Horse. He is usually fine but tangles himself up somewhat when he has a 'moment' out hacking and steps on himself, brushes his hinds together badly and all sorts.

He is much better these days by far but still don't trust him 100%
