Over reach boots?

Due to my horse now having to wear remedial shoes, I have to use over reach boots on him 24/7. I am using velcro fastening rubber boots at the moment and rubbing pig oil into the heel and coronet to make sure they don't rub. I am wondering if anyone else has a horse which is in over reach boots permanently, which ones you have found to be the best
 
I will def have a look at the PE ones, the "drive you nuts" clicky clicky ones will, I think, freak him out completely, I have looked at the Woof ones, I really want the least likely to rub him boots if poss
 
Having tried probably every possible over reach boot ever as mine has to wear them 24/7, I think the normal rubber/Velcro ones are the best. Get the biggest size you can. They've never rubbed roo and I don't mind so much when he loses one or shreds one up.
 
Mine both wear o/r in the field as they pull front shoes off if they don't. I have tried loads and agree with LPL - the basic rubber ones in a large size work best. I gave up with the velcro ones as they break too easily and I go for the very basic pull on bell versions. They never seem to rub thankfully but I do take them off at nights while the horses are in.
 
For me, I would want several pairs, so that I can always put a clean (& preferably dry) pair on each morning at turnout. I have always used normal rubber / velcro boots for turnout - my boy I used to have to turnout with OR boots on never had a rub - but I did always make sure clean boots were going on.

Keep an eye on rubbing pig oil into his heels - some horses can have incredibly sensitive skin around the heels and I have known horses that have gone a few weeks of using pig oil before coming sensitive to it.
 
Another vote for the soft rubber/velcro ones for all day t/o - cheaper too if one comes off in the mud! Personally I don't like the PE ones. I have struggled with them for last two years XC but find unless the sizing is spot on, they do turn/rub.
 
Thank you guys for your comments, I was thinking of going for the more expensive ones but they are so expensive, also the cheap rubber ones seem to fit more snugly to the hoof so they are not so noticeable. I am at the moment using a pair which are quite hard plastic with velcro, I willl go and buy a pair of the old fashioned soft rubber pull on bell boots
 
Have you had a look at the Horze neoprene ProBell over reach boots, my boy is sensitive and so far theses haven't rubbed him when used. Can get them on ebay around £10.
 
We had a horse that would rub very easily with over reach boots on, the only ones that didnt rub were the pull on rubber ones - a complete pain to put on at the start but they did there job well with no rubs :)

Might be worth a try! Otherwise if horse comes in at night you could turn them up so heel gets a chance to breath & boot will dry :)
 
Thanks again for the tips, I have ordered a pair of rubber "old fashioned" pull on ones for the summer when he will be out 24/7 and so the boots will be on for that length of home. I have Roma ones on at the mo but they are very hard plastic but easy to take off at night when he comes in.
