Any suggestions for how to treat / protect a persistant over-reach. He did it out hunting, treatment and time off seemed to heal it. Next time out, in boots, they rubbed and re-opened the area, seemed to heal again, now re opened.. Really he needs to have exercise as hunting fit and very limited turn out, but I'm not sure whether best to cover its up, or leave it open, or is there a magic cure???..Thanks

hi im new my name is will ive just seen your post the best thing to use is colloidal silver 10ppm i use it on my family also my greyhounds and works great.
it will cure your problem fast.
best regards.
will.

you can get over reach boots that sort of wrap around rather than flap around if you see what i mean. someone else may know who makes them but they are leather, and i think a bit of a showjumping thing!!

Cross wrap with Vetwrap/ProFlex bandage then an o'reach boot over the top.

Foot on lap, hold vetrap at front of coronet band, come round to back and over heel bulb, twist vetwrap once then swing back over the other heel bulb and round the front again, two wraps should do it for you.

Thanks all... I've looked up the silver and it looks like natural remedy, which always good, and I guess if I can get a bandage to stay on for a while it could work... The over reach is right on bulb of heel, very low down so flexes when he takes a step.

hi deefor the colloidal silver 10ppm is great for healing ive had greyhound pups tear themselves on wire had bad tears and once i kept them sprayed they healed great.
you could soak some cotton wool with colloidal silver 10ppm place it on injury and wrap it with some vet wrap,i would say it will take 5-7 days of this and he'll be fine.
hope this helps.
will.
