Over Reaching

One of our horses had a problem with over reaching, and despite all the usual precautions did sustain quite a nasty cut on her fore foot having caught it with the hind. Over reach boots were a must when riding this horse.

However, this mare is now barefoot and we have never had a problem with over reaching since. In fact she never wears over reach boots now as they are not needed.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen, or something similar?

No idea, but is it possible that she is still overreaching but because she has no shoes on she isnt cutting herself? Great news for you either way though! =]

Not a clue, but another possibility is that as she has become better schooled and lifted her shoulder, she doesn't clatter herself with her hinds as she is quicker to pick up the fronts ;)

Or, maybe the magic of barefoot is working :D
