This post is probably not really worth getting excited over on my behalf anyway, but when we first got Tess she has been abused at some point in her life and believed to have been kicked in the face when grazing and beaten round the face with lead ropes.

It has been a long 6 months of crying, smiling and achy bones but today for me was the realisation it has been worth it and Tess finally trusts us. Took months of linking the lead rope with fun and treats not pain and neglect, that she could trust us to stand by her whilst she grazed and would never ever have to worry about someone kicking her again. Ever.

The realisation was the other day when i sat beside her on the grass and watched her for a bit, Tess wandered over to me and put her head to my chest for a cuddle, and happily grazed around me (sniffing the pockets for polos on the way) before coming and standing next to me with her back leg relaxed, enjoying the calm and peaceful atmosphere.

I guess the point of this thread is don't give up on something that appears far gone, a kind act goes a long way.

and the photographic proof

That sounds perfect, and such a big thing! Well done, I bet you can't stop smiling :D

It really was a huge development it was like all of our hard work had finally paid off and she went " You food machines are not all that bad ";) Thank you, i'm not going to lie i walked up the paddock crying like a baby:o

You have every right to be over the moon, what a fantastic achievment for the pair of you. Words fail me that someone can do this to a poor animal. Its wonderfull that you now have the trust and the bond between you can only get better. It just goes to show that if you put the hard work and the time and effort in the results can be seen. Great photo, again well done the pair of you, really pleased.

She is the sweetest little girl you will ever meet, has had a little novice girl sat on her and she looked after her like an anglel:

( not my child, so hazed out face just incase )

But such a sweet horse, never nasty and such tender loving eyes how they had the ability to do such a thing to her i will never know.

Thank you for such nice comments she is worth every bit of work put in.

I think you should allow yourself that, its a beautiful thing to feel at peace with each other, I hope you both get to really enjoy a summer full of fun!

Thank you, i cannot wait for some nice weather and to potter down the lanes with her :)
That is so lovely- and it is a big deal! Great photo

Thank you so much :) she is worth everything.

She's beautiful and lovely story
Thank you, i agree but then i am bias :o

Very sweet. How do you know she had been abused in the past? Very sad that someone could do that though :(

P.s did she have a hat on?

Her previous owner took her on as a 'rescue' case from a lady who admitted her husband had hit her but this has never been fully confirmed , trusting old owners and her reactions i guess , it really is terrible :(

A bicycle helmet ;) a barbie one at that....

She's lovely, and it's brilliant that you've helped her regain her trust in humans :D

Thank you, she is a little star.

Well done.

Thank you :)
