So Faran and I went to the Caledonian Showing Champs yesterday for an outing before the STARS finals this week and boy did the wee guy do me proud.

He came first in his Inhand Large Breed M&M Youngstock class, there were some lovely Youngstock in that class from welshies to highlands, fells and dales. Good strong class I was very shocked to win as I was sure the lovely Dales filly had it in the bag.

We then stayed for the evening performance for our championship and again some lovely horses and ponies forwards for it. He trotted into the ring like a pro, didn’t bat an eye at the music, tannoy, dressed ring, not a bit of fuss from him. I was so proud.

He was getting lovely compliments all day and I was so happy with him and his patience waiting around for a good while as well.

Some pictures that I have bought and some I have taken :)

Credit to Sinclair photography for getting some wonderful pictures of us :)

Nice to see a pony that is not overweight winning. He looks a perfect weight for a youngster. Well done!

thanks :)

he is fed mostly fibre with some linseed meal and his balancer and when In gets about 8/10kg of hay.

He gets no mixes or anything else just out of decent grass :) Hea stopped going upwards at the moment so that and the autumn flush has meant he’s filled his big frame a bit more :) I’m wanting him to be a useful ridden horse and get up to loads of adventure so don’t want any weight related issues if possible :)

I have a 3 year old that I'm trying very hard not to feed up! I'd like him to grow another inch but don't think feeding him up will make any difference. As long as he has enough roughage and minerals, he will be IMG_2643.JPGwhatever size he will be, despite judges' comments to put some weight on him.

Here he is with his mum. Love their matching ears!IMG_2643.JPG

I’ve been feeding my boy D&H Suregrow and plenty of people have told me that’s good for growing them on, I didn’t buy it for that purpose I bought it because I had been feeding it to Kia and it helped him no end despite being a Youngstock feed it helped me with him getting bits and mins in that he would actually eat lol he was a fuss pot. I had a few bags left when he passed so started feeding it to the wee guy and he loves it :)

I had the judges comments of he needs more weight as he has a big frame, he has gained naturally and looks good and healthy :)

What a very handsome chap you have there. Maybe you need to change your username now to chestnut chappie

lol I might change it in the new year as I can only change it at Xmas and after Xmas on the thread I think :)

he knows he’s a looker the wee bum lol plays on it when he goes strutting across the field lol
