Anyone take a video of Over to You's retirement ceremony?
I'd have thought the retirement of the most decorated horse in British eventing history might have merited a mention on the BBC's programme yesterday but apparently not.
I'd love to see it, if anyone did.
 
its a shame it didnt get a mention I bet it would have been a different story if some celebreity has been had done something mediocre would'nt it ??
although i think after the positive samples at the Olympics the BBC has gone a bit hush hush on equine sports.
okay i know we saw a little of the eventing at the weekend but would it have hurt to have show and little each day.

anyone agree or not ?
 
Not sure I do agree actually. It's only two weeks since we had pretty good coverage of Hong Kong (if on interactive admittedly) and an hour and a half yesterday wasn't bad.
And I found the bit on how a horse lands fascinating. In fact that was the only mention of Over to You on the entire programme! I couldn't help thinking that if Clare Balding had been fronting the programme we might have seen a bit more.
 
Yes, I saw that. They interviewed Jeannette Brakewell about shoes and studs in Over To You's stable. Not a word about his wonderful career or that he was being retired that day. I thought Jeannette looked a bit peeved that it wasn't mentioned.

Great photos, I think I would have felt a bit weepy had I been there!

He looks very bewildered in the photos, must have wondered what on earth was going on lol!
 
He looks so fit and well in those pictures, its making me welll up just looking at them.
He was a fab horse.
We cant complain too much about equestrian coverage, they did provide the xc on the red button on saturday.
 
Well, after a fashion! If we didn't know how to put up a tent before then, we do now! Once they'd sorted out their transmission problems early on the coverage was good.
 
Yes I have to wonder why you would set up a tent at the back of the crowd and then get in it!!!

Wonder if they realise we were all watching? - Well actually I went off and made Bacon Sandwiches at that point.
 
I was there & I had to wipe away a tear or two. It was so nice, he came in & you could see him looking at the jumps, waiting for the bell & saying come on mum let's get on with it!!

I think she plans to do some veteran classes with him, as she says he won't retire fully.

I've been fortunate to have seen him at local events when I was fence judging - needless to say , I didn't have to fault him. He was so consistent - asa his rider said ' A horse of a lifetime .'
