Horse quite badly over tracking and often has over reach injuries, are there any exercises which would help remedy this?

Trotting poles?

My loan horse used to do it all the time and his owner got the farrier to shape them to reduce it. I think she had the back trimmed more than the fronts and it seemed to help.

I had my old boy shod with rolled toes in front to increase the break over point (timing of the foot leaving the ground) and this helped no end. Plus lots of work on balance and also teaching the horse to shorten and lengthen easily, giving you more control over stride length.

All mine over track when working correctly, but never over reach. Whilst you are trying to solve the problem I would use over reach boots to help lessen the risk of injury, if you're not already, that is. :D

My mare went through a phase of forging badly and my farrier did this too. He also set the hinds back slightly. Sorted. Now she only does it if she's really tired.

Wow that was quick thank you :)

Good tip about the feet thanks :D

I was thinking about lengthening and shortening the stride myself just wanted some confirmation, trotting poles, yes I get that idea too, sorry the brain isn't working too well tonight. Do you think raised ones would help to encourage lift rather than stretch IYKWIM not really good at explaining what I mean.

It's not actually my horse it's a friends, she asked me what I'd do. Quite elderly horse (19) which has worked to medium/advanced level dressage in the past but not with this owner. Yes she uses over reach boots :)
