Over turned horse box

How do you know what type of stabiliser to get? I have a 2007 Ifor Williams 510 Classic

If your trailer is at the correct level and you are driving at the correct speed, then you will be fine. Many people forget about the level, we had to have our towbar altered to ensure it's at the correct level.

Thank god the horse and driver are ok. I had a lorry turn over with me about five years ago after some idiot parked a trailer full of straw on the road which had no lights on and it was in a pocket of low lying white mist, so i only saw it when it was about three feet away, i swung the lorry to try and avoid hitting it (police said afterward if i had hit it head on my daughter and i would have been crushed by the weight of the lorry behind) and the lorry went over, luckily my daughter and i were ok few knocks and bruises and very shocked, the pony however had to be put down at the scene as she had broken her pelvis, my daughter never got over losing her and now does not ride. The emergency services were wonderful, calm, sympathetic, practical. I NEVER want to go through that experience again, it was horrendous to see my daughters beautiful pony lying in the lorry stunned and very scared. I see people taking risks all the time with transporting horses, overloading, driving too fast, putting a third pony in the front of a trailer!, travelling horses backwards in forward facing vehicle and pulling trailers when they are not legally allowed to do so and I despair. Sorry for long post but this is a good palce to share experience and if it makes one person think twice about safety it is worth it.
Your hang in there Murphy, you are obviously a star!!

well Im not sure .....but I do know a lot of the towball ones rely on the towball being kept completely clean and free of all grease (as otherwise the friction wont work)....which can be tricky with some of our lifestyles, so maybe the leaf spring one, but I would check with your local Ifor Williams dealer what they recommend?

Well done Murphy - what a star!

Everyone's worst nightmare. It takes years to get over something like this. I know from when I was 16 and horse went through the floor.

Towing with a small vehicle can also cause problems as the trailer can move the car rather than the other way round.
