Overdosing wormer

Had to worm the pony this morning and it took a while to administer it rolleyes but only realised after I'd done it that the dial had moved from 400kg to 500kg on the syringe. He weighs 411kg and was wormed with Equest gel. Will he be ok with the extra wormer or should I keep an eye on him?

I'm sure he'll be fine, it's not an exccesive amount over, and my YO works on the principle that it is better to over worm than under worm!!!

Don't worry. Ivermectinebased wormer is save till 10x overdose. The equimax 4x for full grown horses.

Youngh foals are a different story. If you give them a big overdose it can be fatal.

That's absolutely right. Under worm gives resistance a change. Never do that; always give a little extra.

I always give a bit extra anyway, as worming is not an exact thing anyway, so better to give a bit over rather than under
