I’m starting to bring my mare in overnight during the winter and I’ve noticed she gets slightly puffy legs after being in. They are hot and once back out again they don’t take long to go back down. Can anyone recommend the best boots/bandages to help with this? Thanks

If they are hot I would check very carefully for any small cuts or scabs that could be infected.
If not hot I wouldn't be too concerned if it is slight.

Rigs can get this, both autumns I have had him. The key is, do they go down during the day? If not, it is a more serious problem that needs urgent investigation. The same if they pit or are hot.

Both times, it was when he was having less movement. Long term, we are making a veranda outside his stable for free access. Last winter, I used Trinity Consultants' L94 liquid, which resolved the problem. It did take 2 courses of treatment though. This year, I have managed with a little L94 and then Marigold and Cleavers, a small handful, added to his feed.

I would try to resolve the cause, rather than squish the swelling in bandages, as this can bring its own problems.
