Saw this lovely boy advertised on friday for £800. Thought it seemed reasonable, though I'm not meant to be horsey shopping so decided to leave it over weekend and if it was still for sale today I would call. Looked up ad again today for number, and they have uped price to £1800! Emailed them, they said new price is correct and original was a misprint. This seems rather expensive to me! Got some more details, she said he leads fine and will stand to be groomed and for farrier until he gets bored when he will just barge you about, has never reared up. Still seems steep to me, especially in current climate, what do you think?

I dunno about overpriced, but I certainly wouldnt want that to barge me out the way!!!

Yeh I think he's gorgeous! Been sat on my hands all weekend! Now they've shoved his price up, very disappointed. Emailed back saying that in that case he was out of my budget, didn't know how flexible they were or how desperately he needs a home and that I would contact in a week or so to see if they still had him as he's so lovely!

my OH would love him... the fact that OH is a COMPLETE novice doesn't seem to put him off the idea of buying something that needs 'work'...

anyhoo, i digress... this horsey is lovely, but yes, if he's as bargey as they say i think he's over priced, as no mention of breeding etc... to me, a bargy shetland is too much, i can't imagine how i'd handle a horse that size!

go see him and tell us what he's like...
x

I would love to, but he's a bit of a drive away, I am Hampshire and he is in Devon. I think I will ring them friday and if he's still there go see him at the weekend, if I can keep away from the phone that long! I really don't need another one, but he's reeeeeally gorgeous! Is that a good enough reason?? lol ok wrong audience for that question!

Sounds like they can't even catch him to show him off so I would expect any buyer would be doing them a favour by managing to get him out of their field. I would only offer a couple of hundred pounds.

Well they said he is ok to catch, and to lead about and will stand, is just difficult when he gets fed up. Obviously this is just their word and would have to see it to believe it! I thought the original £800 was a fair price, but just looking at other similar ads and I think they're dreaming a bit if they want much more than that. He obviously needs a certain kind of home and just annoys me a bit that they're obviously money grabbing rather than worrying about where he ends up.

This horse has been advertised before, I saw it about a month or so back and was advertised for a lot more money, different advert now, the last one said he quite happily jumped five bar gates looks a bit of a handfull but nice, if I had the space he would be coming to me. Looks like he has the stature of a shire and the mentality of a section D mmmmmm quite a handfull

Might still be on Horsequest somewhere. I too liked the look of it and first saw it back in the winter and then he was re-advertised a few weeks ago.

Definately very overpriced. I would beware.. I had something similar last year and although very sweet at that size coltish is becomes scary and dangerous very quickly even if not meant. Mine went from 16.2 to 17.2h in about 3 months and as he put on condition became a handful to put it mildly (although a nice natured one..). He also cost a fortune to keep and playful coltish nips had me black and blue. You are probably far more experienced than we were with them but it was far more of a 'project' than we imagined in every sense of the word!

I wonder if it was the same people advertising him in winter, or if these people bought him and bit off more than they could chew? I'm after a project, and will go and see him and put him through all his paces before I got him, but I'm not prepared to pay over £1000 for one, gorgeous or not.
Why can't everyone just be honest and upfront?

Aha the wonders of google! Ok so he's £1800, £2950 or £800, depending which website you look at. Same name and number so same people. He even has no vices on one ad! Tempted to email them all the links, but don't think it'd get me anywhere. I hope noone sees the £2950 one and falls for it, surely they would notice when they viewed him though? People are so annoying sometimes!!

OMG,how can they expect £1800 for something that will potentially KILL you,and yes i mean KILL,if that thing decides it has had enough of school for the day

I am experienced and strong, but if that decided to walk all over me i couldnt stop it

,he is lovely but i wouldnt touch it with a bargepole, they are getting rid as basically it is an unhandled colt, might not have his nuts but he has learnt attitude by the sounds of it

Lovely horse, but they have let him get away with murder, so definately overpriced.

He is gorgeous but when I 1st saw him for sale and this was a good few months ago he was advertised for £3950!!!!!! He's been for sale a long time and by the sounds of it its not just the price that has been putting people off!

wow he is stunning!
i'd sit on your hands for a week or two- i doubt they will sell him for that money and they seem to be realising that they have to drop their prices given all of the different adverts. i'm guessing that the ads are getting more honest as people have been to see him and realised how bargey he is. either that or ring them and say "i would be willing to pay £1000 (or whatever) maximum- would i be able to come see him"- if they say no then ask them to contact you if he's still available and the price drops.....be patient!

He is stunning and the price wouldn't put me off. At the end of the day it will have cost the owners money to get him bred and cared for for three years and I don't know why everyone thinks £ 1800 is too dear.

We might be in lean times but not everything can be bought for pennies. Too many people on here seem to think nice horses can be bought for peanuts yet when they advertise their own they ask big money.

He might be bolshy but there's prob no one here who hasn't paid more for a horse to find they have issues that need sorting, and they have been honest about him.

He's lovely and if you like him I would see if there is a deal to be done.
