My horse keeps pulling shoes off and it is getting very frustrating!! He has overreach boots on all the time but it doesn't seem to help. He is quite clumsy and I am fairly sure he steps on himself at the side of the hoof rather than at the back. Because of the shape of the hoof most overreach boots don't actually cover the front/side of the hoof where i think he needs the protection. I wondered about acavallo boots and then found there were things called overreach bands which might be used with tape.

Can anyone please explain how the overreach bands work or does anyone have any pics as I can't fathom out how they would go on?!

Any other suggestions welcome.... apart from going barefoot. He already only has front shoes on and does get slightly uncomfortable with his backs out hacking. I haven't got the facilities to transition him to no shoes all round, he not very good conformation and hooves. I only have him on loan and his owner says he must be shod.

thanks!

my horse does same pulls 1 front shoe off at the side I use over reach boots 1 size 2 big so they cover most of the hoof & no rubbing at fetlock!
Also try a fetlock ring/ sausage boot made big diff 2 my horse only 1 shoe pulled in 9ish mths now instead of 1 a month
No idea bout the bands but wud b interested 2 hear others opinions 2
