After several years of wearing Premier Equine no turn over-reach boots with no problems at all, they have just started rubbing my horse. So I tried him in rubber ones, which he wears in the field with no problems, but they rubbed too when I rode in them. Clearly he's feeling rather sensitive at the moment.
Hopefully after coat change this will all pass but does anybody have any suggestions in the meantime. I've looked at the ones with sheepskin tops and Le Mieux are doing fleece topped ones too now, but we mostly hack out and I'm not sure these would be suitable. We have river crossings and mud and the beach and I can just imagine muck getting caught in the wool or fleece and then that rubbing. Has anybody used these sorts of boots in grubby conditions and found them to be okay?
The only other things I can think of are loads of Vaseline or sticking pastern wraps under the over-reach boots. Does anybody have any other suggestions?
