Ow! Who said filling haynets is safe?!

So at the yard today, there I am in my own wee world as I fill a bunch of haynets, singin a nice wee song to myself as I usually do. I bend down to stuff another lot of haylage into the net and somehow manage to poke myself right in the eye - quite hard - with what has got to be the toughest bit of haylage in the entire bale! :eek:
AND THEN within a few minutes of poking my eye I managed to give myself two ruddy splinters! :rolleyes: My eye is now all red and sore. Can't see a scratch tho so maybe I'm just being a baby :p
Honestly! I thought filling haynets was chill out time... aparently I was wrong :o
 
Ooh i did that once with straw!! Stood up & had a 6" length sticking out from the corner of my eye ball!

Hurt like a b***h !!!!!

Try an eye wash to sooth it & wear protective goggles next time :D
 
Its the hanging the haynets thats the dangerous part for me....

massive haynet - all my strength to pull it up - and the bailing twine snaps = me landing on my bum about an inch over the edge of the nice thick straw bed!

Oh! Ouchy! And also a little bit Ick! :eek: Liking the protective goggles idea, no one will make fun of me right? ;)

So glad it's not just me that does stuff like this ha ha!

Yep, this happened to me only this Saturday - luckily id left a bag of bedding leaning against the wall and as i fell back fell into this rather than the solid wall - so so lucky could have been nasty :(:(
 
Lol!!!! Sorry I don't mean to laugh at your misfortune but I have had this happen so many times!!!

The worst I had was last year when somehow the tie string flung upwards and smacked me in the eye. According to my optician I have a scar across my lense now.. :mad:
 
I have been tugging and tugging on the strings on a bale only for it to suddenly give and for me to punch myself in the face :o

Luckily only the mice were watching :D
 
Oh yes - very dangerous: I was rushing across the yard with one on my back, holding the rope with both hands by my shoulder, when my spur got caught up in the net and I was whacked down on the concrete and jammed my elbow in my ribs, cracking a couple of them. This was the day before a cross country, so the next day I took 3 Ibuprofen as it hurt so much, but went on to have a cracking ride (NPI). My ribs didn't hurt until the next day when my OH pointed out that I had taken double strength IBs, so I basically took 6..... Maybe the answer is to take a couple of double-strength painkillers before taking on the hazards of haynets? :D
