Owen is just getting better and better the more work that I do with him. He trotted over a few 1ft logs last week and today he did his first cross pole/showjump in 20 months ( the last one he did was at Munstead BE, September 2005) and he FLEW it with about 4 foot to spare!! So this was the first time that I'd jumped him properly since his back op- and he feels amazing, he really, really basculed beautifully. Only thing was he was so delighted about jumping again that he bucked a few times after the fence then decided to gallop round the arena a few times, at full pelt
LOL it was so funny- he just LOVED it.
His flatwork is the best its ever been, he is soo forward going again, and so easy to ride. He used to be such hard work, stiff and backwards. And everyone at the yard is commenting on how well he is moving now,( they all knew him back in 04/05, when he was buggered) even my dressage teacher, who has high standards on what a good mover entails!
So its looking positive for hopefully doing Mattingley Intro on the 20th May....its still early days yet, and am still taking each day as it comes! But he loves his work now, and is such a happy person, ( he wasnt before) so who knows...we might be on track for doing something this year!
