The owner of my soon to be loan horse is coming to view the yard I'll be moving her to at the weekend and I'm equal parts excited and nervous and really don't know what to expect as I've only ever owned my own horses or had them on loan at their present yard.

The YO will be around on the day to show her about but is there anything I should do or make sure I know in advance?

The yard has a great reputation, in fact it was a HHOer that recommended it to me and I don't foresee the owner having any issues with it but I want to make sure I've got all bases covered for when the owner visits.

Put yourself in the owners shoes. What would you want to know?
I would want to know know anything which could impact on the welfare of my horse. For example, what is the worming regime? What is winter turnout like? How many to a field Vs size of field. Is there a small paddock in case my horse suddenly needs restricted turnout. How is the water in the field maintained? What type of fencing?
The owner may want to know other things such as whether it is diy or full livery and if on full, how experienced are the staff?

I'm sure it will be fine, all good owners will want to see where their horse is ending up

Thanks DollyDolls

I totally appreciate the owner will want to view the new yard, if anything I've been the one pestering the owner to come view the yard as we have a slightly unconventional agreement at present (I'm riding her for free until September when I officially take her on full loan) and wanted to give her the reassurance that I wasn't about to change my mind come the end of summer when the loan is due to start.

I guess I was just having a "worse case scenario" panic as when I originally looked at the yard it was with a view of keeping the new horse I was buying there and now in the meantime I've been offered this horse on loan and am now worried that the owner may not like the yard I've chosen. I'm sure I'm just being silly and stressing over nothing really.
