What happens with your dog while you are at work?

Just a general musing really as we have had a few discussion on here regarding whether people 'should' have a dog if they work full time and if they do what the different strategies are for giving the dog a good quality of life. So I thought a little poll to see if there is a general consensus as to how we cope.

I have a 3 year old whippet (soon to be joined by another) and both myself and my partner work full time. We use a dog walker who is amazing so Freya is never left more than 3 hours alone.
 
I ticked dog walker as they see her most often. Ours goes in once a day, lets them out and spends 15 minutes playing with Fizz.

They do go to doggy daycare either with our dog walker or at a centre near work as well occasionally but we can't afford it often.
 
I go home at lunch time (work is two streets away from home) and they have a 45 minute walk. I am also welcome to take them to work with me if I need to.

Previous to this I was either at university part time or worked evenings/weekends/nights so OH was with them overnight and I was home most of the day.
 
We are fortunate that we run our own small business locally. The dogs (now 3 of them) all come to work with me. It's a great arrangement - they have beds under my desk and behave very well.
 
I voted 'doggie day care', but we don't (personally wouldn't) use a commercial set up. My lucky dogs spend the days I work at a friend's house, but we pay for the privilege. We used to use a dog walker, but this set up is much easier for us now we have a young child to get off to nursery in the mornings as we don't need to walk the dogs before work.
 
Sometimes I take him to work with me (3 or 4 days a week), we go for walkies at lunchtime - he is greyhound so just sleeps in the van all day. 1 or 2 days a week he stays at home and a neighbour lets him out for a wee or sometimes a walk :)
 
We're also lucky, in that we are both home all day. The longest our dog is left if we have to go out without her (not very often) is three hours.
 
Previously my dogs were always left for the day when I was at work. Since I got together with my boyfriend they have only been left for 4 hours maximum per day (usually less than that) as he works part-time; I am hoping he will get a full-time job soon so we will need to consider other arrangements. I am not quite sure what to do - whereas before they were used to being left they now definitely are not, so I will have to try and find someone I trust to let them out at lunchtime.
 
OH takes to work which is his parents farm, so either outside with him or in the house with his mother/the fire. He could probably come to work with me too but I think would be bored as there is not a magical dog exercising machine (quad bike!)
 
i'm another one who is able to take my dog with me to work - she gets walked for 45 - 60 mins in the morning before work then spends the day pootling round with me then gets another 45-60 mins after work - works well for her and gets my lazy behind up in the morning
 
Dog is walked before work, then does horses and chucks with me. dog walker comes at lunch time - she takes him for minimum of 45 minutes up to three hours, then he's walked when my husband gets home from work, after that he comes with me to do horses.
Paying for dog walker is expensive but it was the only way we felt we could have a dog.
 
Can't see the poll as I'm using my phone. Unfortunately I work full time. I recently got a second dog as I found myself away from home longer after moving further from work so wanted company for Jess. However, the second dog really hates being left! Funny as for the first 18 months of her life she was left outside in a kennel but now she has someone that pays her attention it's harder to cope being left.
They get left with a frozen Kong each, the radio on and a dap diffuser is always plugged in.
OH won't entertain the idea of a dog walker (doesn't want someone in the house) and unfortunately I can't afford daycare :-(
Unless I get a job closer to home or end up working part time I won't be getting any more dogs after these two are gone.
 
I always try and come home at lunch so my boy gets a half an hour/twenty minute walk then, and then often he gets a longer walk in the evening. He's a miniature poodle so he's only got little legs, but he needs two walks to wear him out.. he's two years old but still has the energy of a six month pup!

I actually clicked dog walker though on the poll as I work late twice/three times a week and sometimes have lunch meetings, so on those days I make sure I get up early and take him for a quick stroll then, and in the afternoon I have a lovely lady I met through Tailster who takes him for a long walk, feeds him, and gives him a bit of fuss so he isn't on his own for too long. No OH atm so dog walker is the best option for me, I find it works really well.
 
I'm lucky enough to be able to bring my dog to work with me, in an office albeit! He is a small JRT X Yorkie, so doesn't cause too much distruption! Would love another however i have visions of me chasing two dogs around the showroom whilst trying to deal with customers,and that puts me off haha.
