How do you manage to fit in riding them around work/education?! I currently have three horses that need riding, one only needs 15 mins schooling so can fit that in in the evenings but the other two need at least 1 hour of hacking each and seeing I can't ride and lead it means I have to ride them out individually *tend to hack for about 2 hours per horse*.

How do you manage yours? I feel so bad when I don't find time for them both *although they are out 24/7*

Hack one hour
School 20-30 mins
Lunge 15 mins
Horsewalker 30 mins-1 hour
Turn out/occasional day off

^^^ combination of all above, depending on what the horses need/how much time I have - but I am lucky having a horsewalker and lights on the sandschool. If your horses are getting turned out a lot, I wouldn't feel guilty, just do what you have time for. All mine are going on the walker today, cos it's pouring with rain and I have stinking cold!

If it's a busy day, run home from school (I can do it in 25mins if I run) get back at about 4.30, drive up yard, arrive at 5(traffic's always bad early afternoon), bring in Jayjay and Osk, quick grooming session (just legs and where the tack goes) school Oscar for 20/30 minutes, depending on weather, and then me on Osk and my sister on Jayjay go out at 5.30 for a 45min/hour hack, get back at 6.30, tie up boys in cooling rugs and give them small feed(just veg as a reward, usually) do Osk's mud fever stuff, and muck out while they eat. If I have time left over, they get a proper groom!

I usually do it in turns. I had 3 to work a few months ago which was rather difficult. But now I have 2 again, I usually lunge 1 and ride the other, and just swap it about every day.

Well heres my daily routeene (which happens every day during the week):

545am get up
6am driving to yard and muck one out and turn one out (they go out an alternate days)
7am arrive back home, get ready for work
730am make lunch, have breakfast
825am walk to work
845 am arrive at work
330pm leave work (i dont take any breaks so i can leave early, as apposed to 5pm)
345pm arrive home, get changed
4pm get to yard
4-7pm ride both - normally an hour of schooling each
7pmish get home/have shower/eat tea
730pm onwards - do Uni work (im doing an open university course), i work on alternate nights usually, so i have one night relaxing and one night working.

its hard work and im premenantly knackered

How about getting a loan to help out if you are feeling a tad guilty? Or do you not let others ride your horses?

There must be loads of nice people out there who would love to give you a hand a few times a week. I say this cos I am a loaner - my horses' owner just didn't have time to do her two justice and he was doing next to nothing. Our arrangement has worked out so well that I now do him 24/7 and she can concentrate on her other horse, they both get well looked after and well exercised, she's no longer completely exhausted and I adore my neddy so we are all very happy ....... just a thought cos it's worked so well for me!

I have advertised for riders in the past and have recently re advertised with no luck, I'm just not in a horsey area. Would be more than happy to allow someone else to ride one of them at least!

It is hard work! My day.....

6.30am - Get up
6.50am - go to yard turn my two out and turn out a friends
7.25am - Get back home and shower and wash my hair (which I do every day!) and get ready for work
8.40am - Leave for work
9am - Arrive at work
5pm - Leave work
5.20pm - Arrive home
5.40pmish- Get to the stables and get horses in and ride, ride them both for an hour ish
7.30 - Finish them off and go home.
7.35iah - arrive home (only live about 3mins away!)
then eat dinner check work emails and go to bed about 10pm!!

I am also permanently tired! And compete every weekend with two, oh well I do it because I love it!

sharers! riders, happy hackers!

I work full time, we have three horses (well 2.5!) and a daughter of 7 years old. It can be done yourself but far easier and much more fun when someone else can hack them for you!!!

While I'm at uni I have my 2 main competition horses at a competition/livery/riding yard near my uni house. Finding time to ride them can be difficult due to competitions at the yard, all the lessons they teach, my uni work schedule and going out! I ride them every day in the evenings now - get up there about 6pm (usually competitions n lessons have finished by then) n ride them both, getting home about 9/9.30pm. If I'm going out that night I jump in the shower, get changed n made up n am ready for the taxi at 10/10.30! This free's up all my day for uni etc. I lead a pretty hectic life but it's worth it

Not a problem at the moment, 1 is too young, & the other is waiting to foal. Before it meant 1 in the morning & 1 in the evening winter time, in the summer I can ride in the mornings so 2 can be taken out then.
