sorry tell me to clear off if you want because i am being noesy

Bit different as was given my horse for free. But always paid for everything myself. Was given him on my 17th birthday (although his previous owner had no idea it was my birthday

).

I got a holiday job and earned good money.... My parents didn't ask for rent or anything, so they agreed to let me buy a horse. I was very fortunate that where I kept him for 2 years only charged me £5 a week! (I was the daughter she never had!)

14 - when I was old enough to babysit and contribute to the upkeep. I also saved my own money to pay for half to start with.

I have had horses my whole life, but they were either on loan or liveries on our land that I rode. My dad bought my one at 14 and I have bought my own at 19 and it will be a long time until I have enough money to buy another.

Clearly I'm spoiled rotten! 12. Had 2 by the time I was 16, got 4 now! The last one was the only one I paid for myself. Apart from that I always paid for my own lessons and entry fees but that's it.
I LOVE MY MUM AND DAD !

When I was 14. I rode a nut case arab for a year before that, that had to be sold. Also looked after a nutcase, but owners turned very nasty (they had no idea about horses and had brought a very very green 4year old) my mum couldn't cope with someone else controlling it and the emotions that went with.

Just bought my first one at 20 cuz I got a good paid job. Had to get a loan to buy one though but I can afford the repayments so its all good!

First one at 10 once my parents realised it wasn't a phase. They also got fed up of the "Can I have a pony?" for birthday/Christas present requests. The agreement was that I looked after it all myself & they would contribute towards upkeep. Got my second one at 14ish & paid for her upkeep myself with occasional help from parents for big buys & of course, requesting horsey stuff for birthdays & Christmas.

Nope. Parents weren't horsey although both had ridden when young & grandmother rode. Great great grandfather was a farrier so it is in the family to some extent but no, not a horsey family. Although my brother & two sisters have followed in my footsteps. Brother is currently saving up for a horse of his own. And I'm saving for my third one next year sometime.

21 (saved up)

Currently own 3 now and rising 25yo! eeek!!

Not completely horsey parents, but very horsey family- grandad owns lots of land and both aunties have competed very high SJ levels on dads side. Mums side is sooooo non horsey!

I started riding when I was 11 but didn't get my own until I was 18. I left school, got a job and saved like mad to buy a 14.1hh black pony called Bertie. 18mths later I sold him and bought a 15.2 SJ mare who I kept for 7 years until I had my first child.

Now I'm living my dream through my eldest daughter! lol!

My parents aren't horsey but they're coming round to it now I've got my own and they love him! I started riding at 8, just weekly lessons/hacking and they realised it wasn't a phase, I carried on at the same place and worked there in the school holidays etc and loved it, went to a different, better riding school in Sussex when I went to uni and did a lot more with my riding (more dressage and sj) and got into it more. Then I decided that it was time to branch out and get my own horse, I'd wanted one for a while but I'd always put it on a pedastal, like you had to be really clever and special to have your own horse or something, and I wanted to be able to drive so that my parents wouldn't have to take me to the yard twice a day.
I started sharing a horse last summer when I was 19 and finally got my own horse 4 months ago a few weeks before my 20th. I never thought that I would get one so soon, I was never going to until I graduated but I'm a very very poor student and very happy, no regrets!

Had my 'own' horses as a child (parents funded) but got back into riding 3 years ago and have 2 which are completely paid for by me.......
