Just realised I brought the hairy black fing home a year ago tonight!

What he looked like when I first met him...

He is a little git but I love him to bits and he makes me laugh my backside off!
He's just had a bit of time off while I was on holidays so we are starting slowly back into training and hoping he hasn't forgotten absolutely everything, he even seems a bit...calmer, dare I say :p
You may notice he is not huge but I like his size, compact...and his low centre of gravity makes him like a little tank

B isn't so good healthwise at the minute, on quite a few meds for his skin (hence no pics, he doesn't look the best) and for his back but is still in good form thanks to all the pills! I have even started him on *whispers* canned dog food to see if that makes a difference. Starting on Winalot tuna jelly and then going on to Chappie if that doesn't work!

Such a handsome boy :D
Is the winalot jelly any good? Been trying to help a fellow dog owner with his dog's skin and he feeds it winalot jelly. I actually thought maybe it was the food causing the skin probs? :o
Happy Owniversary to you both :D

Thanks!

Oberon, I hope he will be able to compete in what is now supposed to be called IPO :p, it's basically the European equivalent of working trials.

Kao, he has only just started on it, at this stage I will try anything :o he is going mad for it though and cleans his bowl, he was starting to really pick over the dry stuff.

Happy Owniversary, dosnt time fly, he is looking good, as for calmer I expect he is waiting until you get over your jet lag.:D

Sorry to hear about B, Im sorry I cannot offer any advice but hope you can get on top of it soon.:)

He's lovely:)

Whats the thinking behind Winalot? Just to warn you, my nickname for it is Winalot Poo-alot.:D

Thanks BS.

I don't know whether you have followed the long drawn-out saga of all B's skin issues but he needs something fish based with no wheat or corn, and with a low protein level.
He was doing brilliantly on Jollyes' own brand fish and rice but that range was discontinued. After trial and error we put him on Wainwrights senior salmon and potato (he is not even five yet) but it is no longer doing anything for him.
Tried raw (the floofy one is on raw ,since he was weaned, and thriving) and it sent him off the scale, he made himself bald and was bleeding, and the only thing I have not tried so far is canned food.
Like I say, Chappie is next on the list :o
Poos seem fine so far.
Whatever the rulebook says, B likes to rewrite it....

Poor B - given that it's flared up again now is it a seasonal thing? Not much you can do about it I suppose short of keeping him in his own plastic bubble.

*visions of giant plastic exercise bubble, hamster style* :p

I still maintain that the floofy fing ought to be pulling that bike, not merely running alongside it. Get to it. :p

Not really seasonal, the worst condition he was ever in, was in December with a few inches of snow on the ground.

NO pulling the bike, thanks very much, it is a control exercise :p :p :p

Good luck with the Winalot, it's never given mine the runs, but it does make them very regular - almost a laxative effect! An oral colonic if you like!:D

Happy Owniversary :D yes I am late as usual :p

Wow how much the Floofy has grown :D

Sorry to hear about B :( No suggestions or advice here, just hope winalot works :)

My, what big paws he has! Handsome boy!

Is Fish4dogs too high in protein for the big dog? Chappie has a lot of rice and is bland so is recommended for tummy issues, not sure how well B tolerates grain? Hope it works. :)

Thanks guys, yes, he is very starey, particularly when you have a Chinese takeaway on your knee :p
I am on my second jacket, luckily it comes up nicely in the washing machine, between the chicken pockets and the designer mud stripe up the left hand side :p

CT he was on fish and rice before and this is the tinned stuff, like I say at this stage anything is worth a shot!

Missed this too (crap internet at the mo so using my phone and tend to just dip in and out of here), that year seems to have gone so fast. He is looking good.:)

He's been on steroids (oral, injections, gel) on and off throughout the entire period and is currently on antibiotics (again, he has had several strong blasts over the years) and has just finished a course of anti-inflammatories for his back. Obviously I am now concerned about lasting damage to his immune system/internal organs.

Have asked about Atopica on several occasions after learning about it on here, but so far has not been prescribed. My mother has taken written instructions with ATOPICA in capital letters to the last two vets visits (he is seen by two different vets) and neither has so far thought it necessary.

Odd, but of course we can't see him. Poor lad. Obviously, and steroids you would ideally not have him on long term.

I think the issue is my mother is not as forceful and tends to accept what she is told by those in authority :o, I am a bit more of a scrapper but have not been able to get off work for the last couple of appointments to do any scrapping....

Bump for Alec ;)

No recent pics of him in work, his tracking is taking a back seat as he needs long tracks, but have very few places with no stock on at this time of year (he is hunting, not tracking :o), obedience/attention is very good (Needs a bit of work on not fidgeting/not squeaking in long down :p) he has restarted manwork, and is doing really well thanks to me being more clear about what I have to do. Still bloody noisy but his grips are strong and calm, you can't have everything!!!!
Excellent with people (even the decoys when they are off duty :D), other dogs, a very happy chappy, can take him anywhere.

Regarding B, for anyone who is interested, he is now on Chappie. He impacted quite badly after a week on WET Winalot (told you he was weird!!!) and needed an enema :(
Doing better now though.
