Oww, oww and triple oww! Was riding earlier, trotting round the school - had already been round several times, and horse decides to spazz out at the mounting block which is in the corner. Has a bit of a snort then bucks and canters off. Stop him and think 'something hurts'. Look at my thumb, of which the nail is quite long. ABout a third of the way down it's been bent back and is ripped - but not fully. Blood dripping from it, and going black already!

That's the last time I'll be riding with long nails!

It is still throbbing now

No, by the time I'd stopped examining my thumb, it was a bit late. Just made it keep going past the scary block and the scary cones, and actually work properly!

ouch, When my nails get long, I tend to file them down as I have done similar too many times. It will feel better in the morning. Put a plaster on it.

soz to jump in on the thread but halfpass, put your 7ft rugs on ebay and look for the 6ft3 ones you want thats what i did when i lost my old boy and got a new little foal. i sold the old lads 7ft's on ebay and the money i got for them bought the little un some new rugs so i never actually had to fork out for new rugs, although because of the situtation of them being for sale i found it hard to part with them for quite a while.
