Hi there. I was hoping somebody here might be able to recommend a good instructor in the Oxfordshire / Buckinghamshire locality.

I've recently purchased a new horse after a five year break. Children and work, the usual! I'm not a complete novice however I am more than a little rusty, and my new horse is 5 (and green). He was fairly quiet and chilled out for the loan period, but after purchasing him and getting him fitter he is becoming increasingly spooky. I don't mind this however I would like to know how to handle things correctly. My horse is a lovely blank canvas so someone with experience at bringing on youngsters would be great. I really don't want to spoil my chap in any way! I'd love to compete again one day however at the moment getting him schooled well is the top priority.

If anyone can give me any names or numbers I'd really appreciate it. I'm willing to spend a few quid!

Hi

Try kirsty farren at kontakt dressage 07525395850 - she has a website with more details. Based in singleborough near addington and I know she already travels to oxford for some clients. She's a friend and I have trained with her - I think she is very good. She mostly does dressage and has ridden at gp though she doesn't have a horse at that level at the month. She buys and sells so rides lots of youngsters, has evented too so ok if you don't just want to do dressage

Which part of the Bucks/Oxon border and what discipline?

I am about 5 miles outside of Bicester, in the Aylesbury direction. The most important thing for me at the moment is getting the fltwork / schooling side sorted out. Eventual aim would be to get back in to showjumping. Thanks

I have been training with ernest dillon recently and have seen massive improvement in my young horse! He has a website and is based very close to you!

Hi there. I did actually email Ernest. He wrote a lovely reply but I didn't hear much after that. I did call but he told me he was busy and would call me back. Sadly he never did. Maybe he was put off by us being very novice. I did explain this honestly. I'm very willing to learn though and work hard to better myself. I was a bit sad as I have a great amount of respect for him. I've actually read a book of his without realising he was the author. I don't want to harass people so I never called again.
