Oxon, blewbury area, Appaloosa Mare PTS/Vanished without owner permiss

If anyone knows someone called Hilary Groves and a 14hh ish 12 year old ish mare called Shulaugh from Oxon, please can you pm me. On behalf of a client!

The horse was on loan, apparently had colic, then destroyed, disposed of without owners permission, this woman is now making a claim on insurance on an animal she did not own.

Any info helpful...and treated with discretion.

Owners have tried to make contact and are being met with total disregard and secrecy.....

your client could try writing to all the vet surgeries in the local area with proof of ownership (or a copy of the loan agreement) to see if anybody has treated this horse

God thats awful. My horse on loan mysteriously died of colic one night and was quickly buried in a field. just a bit too soon after i refused to sell him.
I would do as mother hen suggests with the vets, advertise anywhere and everywhere including photo's
also try the tracing horses sections of magazines- do nat say what has happened just the horse details.
I really feel for your friend and unless ahe finds out what happened for sure it will be really hard to accept- Is there not something in passports for when a horse dies?

The passport goes back to the issuing office, supposedly, when the animal dies. Doesn't stop someone getting another one from a different PIO though.

yes this is the problem, its not that we dont have address etc, its just the loaners are being very sketchy and have disposed of horse, dont know how or where....which makes me think it may have been sold on. They also mentioned there were no blood or cuts involved! - really odd thing to say with colic? Hence why say it. Will contact local vets....and get piccies etc. Thanks for help x

Well, you cannot just dispose of a horse, so vets, hunt kennels (Old Berks are in Faringdon, not far away, and do disposal) or knackers - the options are limited!

if she is making an insurance claim then she must have given insurers all the details of who PTS etc. can you get hold of the claim form.

Maybe your client should make a formal complaint of theft to the Police, sine the horse might have been 'disappeared', there is potentially a fraud there too if an insurance claim goes through
