My mare gets very tense at competitions - much less tense at home. Has anyone had good / bad experiences with oxyshot or NAF magic in a syringe? Just bought some oxyshot but could easily swap it this afternoon!

(back, saddle, teeth all ok, regular training etc - just at competitions and usually just the first dressage test then she is better for the second one but needs 1 hour + working in)

Oxyshot, but it takes different times to work in my horses so you may need to experiment. it works in about 30 minutes on one of them and takes over an hour on the other. NAF magic and instant magic did nothing for either of mine

I'll try the oxyshot then. I can always try magic next. It got to be worth a try. Its like she goes...oh god a differnt arena. She relaxes when warming up after 30 mins but she tenses up going into the test. (I was tense first few comps but now i just get on with it and ride) Just need a little something to take that edge off.

Also is magic mainly magnesium based as I tried a mag daily calmer when I first had her and it did nothing.

My vet told me that if the horse does not have a magnesium deficiency the magnesium calmers will not make any difference.

Friend of mine swears by Oxyshot, my horse spat it out.

Oxyshot is only slightly salted water and a whole heap of mumbo jumbo and advertising . If you read their website,s supposed scientific trials carefully ,you will realise what a load of cobblers it really is. Save your money.

Oxyshot workson my yearling and i have done experiments with and without and i definitely notice a diffference but some say it has no effect on their horses.

forgot to say gave to mine about 10 mins before I boxed him and was about a 40 min drive away to show, he was so relaxed but still had his whits about him if you get what I mean
