Hi I have used a variety of calmers with little or no success, but once the you get the dose and timing correct oxy shot is very effective and I have noticed a marked improvement in my spooky/uncooperative chestnut gelding, he is more sensible and obliging! Hope this helps,
We've been using Oxyshot with our event mare this season. Then decided to stop and see if it was the Oxyshot or she had just become more settled at events. Bit of a mixed result - she seems relaxed without the Oxyshot but the mountain at the end of the trailer is somewhat "liquid", on the Oxyshot much more normal and certainly the pile isn't as high. It seems to have a calming effect on her "innards", which must be good. We're going back to using it on her next outing.
I used it on my warmblood yearling when i took her to her first show as she can sometimes get quite tense and overly silly! It tookthe edge off her and she was shockingly well behaved after we'd been there for a while. I will definitely use it again.
I used it on my little cob for hunting last year, it took the edge off slightly but not a lot. Application is a bit tricky, you have to have a ned who is good to dose as the syringe is huge and the liquid can run out. Have tried magic calmer for a fun ride recently, again took the edge off a bit and easier to administer...no nasty reactions or side effects with either of them....
The 1st time I used it was for a dressage test and the judge gave the comments "Calm & obedient" as she knows what he is usually like! It has been like riding a different horse.
