I know this is relatively new to the market but I would value opinions on the P2-RS compared to the P2 air jacket and race safe body protector bought seperately.

Having spoken to a well known supplier of both they suggested that I would be better off with the two seperate items as I could have the racesafe with a shorter back if needed and the air jacket on it's own will protect more of the spine than the P2-RS. I value their opinion but would also like yours and any experiences?

They work out roughly the same in cost so that's not really a deciding factor. My greatest worry is covering the collar bone area as i'm now sporting a bone graft, plate and 7 pins second time around! Both cover this and I would definately be getting the shoulder protectors that fit both types.

Please don't use this thread as a debate about point two vs other makes or whether it's needed or not. I just need to know the above info as I will be getting a P2 of some sort regardless!

Hi,

We stock both these jackets. I spoke to Point 2 myself about this and what you have been told is basically what they told me.

The RS is attached to the outside of the RS body protector and so is neater than having 2 separate items. However, having two separate items actually gives you more support. The Hybrid at the moment is only made on regular length body protectors, so if you are a short or a long back in the Racesafe you won't be able to get the right back length at the moment. Also, when the original air jacket is set off the air bags roll up at the neck and also cover further down than the Hybrid seems to.

In my opinion the Hybrid is great if you want a neater look, or are unlikely to bother putting both a body protector and an air jacket on. Believe me - I've had a customer in the shop who said they'd probably find it a bit of a faff to bother putting the air jacket on top, even though it's only 3 clips, despite the fact they'd bought an air jacket recently after breaking shoulders etc in a fall last year! Every person is different so it comes down to personal preference

However, if you are looking for maximum support/coverage I'd suggest going for the two separate items. From what you've said about your injuries this is what I'd recommend.

I hope this explains your options.
